Oilseed Rape

A high cost, high risk crop to grow. Early nutrition is key to get the crop of to a fast start to get away from threats like CSFB and slugs. A starter fertiliser with Phosphate (with Mg and Zn to get it going), some Nitrogen (dependent on drilling date and previous cropping) and a little Boron can be critical to get it through to the Spring with good yield potential. Many growers are opting to use forms of Silicon too. This leads to a thicker cuticle, more trichomes, better cell structure and is a synergist for Nitrogen.
