Highly efficient foliar Phosphorus

AF Phosphorus is a highly efficient liquid foliar product designed to provide the impetus for growth and rooting when the soil is unable to or requires recovery. Produced using a unique process of production, via the Flex Fertiliser System ApS, AF Phosphorus contains a true amide complex that increases the uptake and efficiency of trace elements to the crop whilst aiding crops that are under pressure with poor compacted or waterlogged situations that could lead to difficult establishment and/or restricted rooting.

Looking for Phosphorus deficiencies

Phosphorus deficiency symptoms differ in various crops and can display no obvious symptoms, however if they are visible, plants will be stunted in growth with reduced vigour, with weak root systems or a bright green/purplish tint generally on older leaves first.

By the time a visual deficiency is recognised, it may be too late to correct in annual crops. Phosphorus deficiencies late in the growing season affect both seed development and normal crop maturity. The percentage of the total amount of each nutrient taken up is higher for Phosphorus late in the growing season than for either Nitrogen of Potassium.

If in doubt, take a tissue analysis.

This maize crop was severely deficient in P. To target this, AF Phosphorus was applied at 5L/ha. The splodges of green are where the applied Phosphorus had, after only 2 days, been taken up and utilised by the cells and leaf area.

It’s very exciting to see results like this after so little time, however it does look like this plant/crop will need more P as it hasn’t spread its way into the rest of the leaf yet.

The importance of Phosphorus

  • The function of Phosphorus in plants is very important. It helps a plant convert other nutrients into useable building blocks with which to grow.
  • Phosphorus is vital for plant development, starting at a seedling and continuing all the way to maturity.  Besides playing a role in the quality and formation of seeds, this nutrient helps ensure uniform heading, faster maturity and strengthens the plant to help survive the winter.
  • Phosphorus is extremely important for plant growth and maturity. Without it, a plant simply cannot be healthy. Phosphorus plays a role in photosynthesis, respiration, energy storage and transfer, cell division, cell enlargement and several other processes in plants.

Application method

IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the product label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

For best results of nutritional uptake, apply in the evening or early morning. Do not spray when the crop is in stressed conditions such as very hot weather or drought.

Shake the container well before opening and use. Spray equipment should always be clean before adding product.

COMPATIBILITY: Do NOT mix with Boron. Compatible with a wide range of agrochemical products. For details of compatibilities contact your distributor or local AIVA FERTILISER representative. Carry out a jar test before adding to a new mix.

FOLIAR APPLICATIONS

MIXING: Half fill the spray tank with water, begin agitation and add the required quantity of AF PHOSPHORUS* to the tank. Rinse container thoroughly and then add the rinsing to the sprayer. Once mixed, continue agitation until spraying is complete and spray without delay. It is not advised to leave products in the tank for long periods of time. *Mix into the tank last when used alongside pesticides.

TIMING: Apply as necessary, higher rates may be needed in very severe deficiency.

DOSE RATE: 3-5 L/ha

WATER RATE: 100-200 L/ha
