Nitrogen fixing and phosphate solubilising microbes with added Trichoderma

AF BioplusT is a 100% fully soluble powder that contains a highly developed synergistic consortium of beneficial microbes. AF BioplusT aids in fixing nitrogen within the soil as well as solubilising phosphate, making it available to the plant. It contains carbohydrate bio-stimulants to promote the initial growth of the microbial population.

Understanding the synergistic microbes in AF Bioplus Powder and their individual traits

Azospirillum = are PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) and are able to fix the atmospheric Nitrogen, which increases plant growth and hence the uptake of water and nutrients by plants, due to the production of different substances by the bacteria. Azospirillum can colonise the roots of plant species and increase their growth by the production of different metabolites, including plant hormones.

Azotobacter and Beijerinckia = have beneficial effects on crop growth and yield through: biosynthesis of biologically active substance, stimulation of rhizospheric microbes, producing phytopathogenic inhibitors, modification of nutrient uptake and ultimately boosting biological Nitrogen fixation.

Pseudomonas = Plant-associated Pseudomonas live as saprophytes on plant surfaces and inside plant tissues. Many plant-associated Pseudomonas promote plant growth by suppressing pathogenic micro-organisms, synthesizing growth-stimulating plant hormones and promoting increased plant disease resistance. 

Paenibacillus = serve as efficient PGPR, which competitively colonise plant roots and can simultaneously act as bio-fertilisers and as antagonists of recognised root pathogens, such as bacteria, fungi and nematodes. They enhance plant growth by several direct and indirect mechanisms. Direct mechanisms include Phosphate solubilisation, Nitrogen fixation, degradation of environmental pollutants, and hormone production. Indirect mechanisms include controlling phtyopathogens by competing for resources such as Iron, amino acids and sugars, as well as by producing antibiotics or lytic enzymes.

Trichoderma Harzianum = aids in the degradation of organic material, moving it into a more plant available form, whilst also helping the solubilisation of Phosphates and micro-nutrients. Trichoderma Harzianum also has the potential to enhance the quality of produce by enhancing shoot and root length, augmenting Nitrogen fixation and promoting healthy growth in early stages of the crop. It plays an important role in the bioremediation of soils that are contaminated with pesticides and herbicides.

Creating AF BioplusT

AF BioplusT contains a synergy of select biology, with a known performance within the soil, with the security of genetic integrity of the selected microbes by obtaining specific strains from the registered ‘genetic banks’. To provide biology that best fits certain scenarios, research and field trials are carried out to determine the effects of individual microbial species and their synergistic effects within the soil.

Our fermenters are both ISO 9001 and 14001 accredited and carry out a range of quality control checks for microbial counts and contaminants. The viability of microbial products are also tested to well in excess of the pressures used in spraying equipment 60 – 700 bar to ensure ease of use.

The strains we use in this product were originally sourced from accredited repositories. As we carry out a continual programme of product improvement by selective cultivation, our strains our sent back to the German DSMZ culture collection to carry out multi locus sequencing to confirm that the microbes we are using are still the same species (selective cultivation slightly changes the genetic make-up of the microbe so this is a part of our standard quality control). Once the species has been confirmed, because of the slight genetic changes from the original, it is a assigned a new, unique strain number. This is why we can state that we use unique selected strains in our formulations.

Application method


MIXING: Never prepare more spray solution than is required. Suspend the required dose of AF BIOPLUS T in water, as 1 volume of AF BIOPLUS T in 5 volumes of water. Mix thoroughly. Add suspension to required amount of water to obtain final drench volume (see below). Apply of the day of preparation.

CONDITIONS: DO NOT APPLY in dry conditions or in any strong UV light. Soil compaction and water-logging will affect the efficiency of AF BIOPLUS T.

AF BIOPLUS T is most effective when applied alongside a microbial feed and natural carbon source.
